Mechanical seal is a device that achieves axial end face sealing by relying on the pre tightening of static and dynamic ring end face sealing pairs by elastic elements and the compression of medium pressure and elastic element pressure. Generally divided into two categories: contact type and non-contact type. Its characteristics are:
1. The seal is reliable and will not leak or leak very little over a long period of use. Clean, no dead corners, can prevent bacterial contamination.
2. Long service life, the mechanical seal with the correct selection of friction load ratio can be used for 2-5 years, and the longest service life can be up to 9 years.
3. The maintenance cycle is long, and under normal working conditions, no maintenance is required.
4. The shaft or sleeve is not subject to wear.
5. Friction power consumption is low, generally about 10-50% of that of the packing box seal
6. Mechanical seals do not have as strict requirements for the accuracy and smoothness of the shaft as packing boxes, and are insensitive to the vibration of the rotating shaft and the deviation of the shaft from the housing hole. They are less sensitive to the vibration of the shaft.
7. Widely applicable, it can be used for sealing low temperature, high temperature, high vacuum, high pressure, various speeds, as well as corrosive, abrasive, flammable, explosive, and toxic media.
